It is the 3rd year of my series on the Top 10 to Watch For: the 10 guys who I think you should be paying attention to moving forward. Last year I introduced the interview portion of the series and tried to accompany each of my posts with an artist interview but I got caught up in that and wasnt able to pay due attention to the other parts (like the mixtape). So, this year I will be trying to find middle ground, I am going to announce all 10 of my artists at the same time in a list right now and throughout the year I will spotlight one of them and hopefully give yall an interview as well. 7 out of these guys have been noticed or have been on blast for a while now.

None of these artists have even put out an album! These are guys that you should be watching moving forward. Being on 2dopeboyz does not mean you’ve made it, althought it is a huge milestone. I think that if these guys continue on the way they are going, EVERYONE will know their name. For instance, I was listening to Wiz Khalifa for years (dating back to 2005) and he was one of our Top 10 to Watch for in 2009, then Kush & OJ put him on the map (one of the best mixtapes of the year that year) but he was nowhere close to the level he is at now… Been listening to Childish Gambino for a year or two now as well and he is performing at Rock the Bells this year.
I don’t think any of them are peaking at the level of “best mixtape” and therefor are worth noting moving on.
I’m glad you like these guys’ music and I am always looking for new artists, I would love to hear any suggestions you have.
