Last night I went to the Flying Lotus show for Red Bull Music Academy at Terminal 5 in New York City. I’ve been to a lot of amazing shows so far in 2013, but this may have been the best. One of the most impressive parts were the visuals. They were probably the best I’ve seen… ever.
I find it fascinating to look at the way the visual aspect of live music has evolved over the last couple years. I think a lot of this has to do with the effect of the EDM scene on essentially every other genre of music. It wasn’t until last night, through what I saw and conversations I had with others at the show, that I realized how influential cinema is to musicians (FlyLo specifically).
The above mini-documentary is a fascinating look into the production and concept behind the Layer 3 project developed by FlyLo and his team.
