The buzz Kidd Upstairs began to cultivate in 2013 continues to grow, already this year opening forNipsey Hussle on his Crenshaw Tour in San Diego, securing a performance slot at SXSW, getting his first Clear Channel radio play, and landing a controversial Fox Sports story.  On the heels of a critically acclaimed KVSHMIR release, Kidd gears up for his next project: DMNDS Deluxe, due outTuesday February 18th on iTunes.

The self-produced title track, “DMNDS” (pronounced “diamonds”), introduces us to one of the main themes on the album: Kidd’s interactions with a certain type of beautiful woman he continually has run-ins with.

“I coined the term DMND as an extension of the word dime,” Kidd explains.  “It’s the highest quality of woman that exists, beautiful in both appearance and psyche, independent and not easily accessible.  Rarely flawless yet always unique, I wanted to chronicle this breed of women that deserve to be highlighted separate from the usual hoes and bitches rap references.”

The futuristic banger covers everything from Kidd’s ex-DMNDS to his lustful desires for new ones – and all their flaws in between.  Knowing how demanding his work is and how much a true DMND would need, Kidd even questions his own ability to commit.  Real will relate to the authenticity and honest portrayal of how DMNDS act and think; as usual, Kidd’s storytelling adds complex layers to an extremely catchy club anthem.
