Kidd Upstairs – 40 Different Worlds [Video]

Many artists ponder the existence of a second world, an alternate universe – Kidd Upstairs raises the stakes and embraces forty of them. After having his work ethic compared to the likes of Curren$y and Alchemist with his latest project DMNDS: Deluxe Edition and receiving praise for the first visual “Ashin In My Cup”, Kidd Upstairs is back for the second self-produced video off of the album.

The rarely sober emcee ventures through a trippy hillside that emulates the used canvas of a giant, space alien painting in this colorful visual for “40 Different Worlds.”

Directed by Aris Jerome, the film finds our protagonist doing what he doest back on top of a Candyland-inspired mountain, navigating through dropping caverns, and hiding amongst the remains of an incinerated building.

Shot at Salvation Mountain near the border of Arizona, Kidd details the difficulty sustained while shooting the video:

“As you can see in certain shots, I’m sweating bullets,” Kidd recalls. “It was hot as fuck. I remember looking at the temperature reading in my car, it got well over 100 degrees that day. I was doing hella takes on top of that mountain, and it’s a big mountain, so you’re standing in that desert heat a few stories closer to the sun. I nearly based out several times and at one point we had to drive back in to town to rehydrate before I could finish the day.”

Death by video? They can’t all have models and air conditioning.
