George Clinton parliament funkadelic

At the very least, Parliament-Funkadelic is made of some of the biggest names in Funk music and is a member of the 1997 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  But even that description barely scratches the surface of this ever-evolving collective of musicians, artists and more.  The 16 members who entered the HoF in ’97 are Jerome “Bigfoot” Brailey, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Stringray Davis, Tiki Fulwood, Michael Hampton, Fuzzy Haskins, Eddie Hazel, Junie Morrison, Boogie Mosson, Billy Bass Nelson, Garry Shider, Calvin Simon, Grady Thomas and Bernie Worrell.  However, hundreds of musicians have collaborated, recorded with, played on and worked together with the members of P-Funk!!

Since their official creation in the early 1960s, there have been over 24 studio albums released under the names Funkadelic, Parliament, P-Funk and any other variation; not to mention all of the live albums, compilations and side-projects that these musicians worked on.  Prolific is an understatement.  P-Funk and many of the individual members are some of the most recognizable Funk musicians that we have ever had.  The work that they have done both to drive the music genre and promote its popularity is unquestionably valuable to the genre’s survival.

George Clinton and his band of funky men will continue their trend of bountifulness with a marathon of 5 different performances at Yoshi’s San Francisco over the course of a few days!  It’s gonna be a party!
