The general hip hop public’s introduction to Iggy Azalea was in 2012 when he fans’ voting catapulted her onto the cover of XXL with 9 other up and coming emcees.  This marked the first time that a woman was included in the Freshmen list’s short history.  She had a number of mixtapes before that and her videos were picking up steam online but when she signed with Grand Hustle/T.I., got the freshmen cover and released the subsequent Glory, she was able to make that jump to the next level!

One of Azalea’s biggest problems has been the inability to deliver music on a consistently high level but her highs are very high.  The aforementioned Glory EP was 6 tracks of energetic, enjoyable music featuring some of the bigger names in hip hop but also allowing Iggy to do her thing.  Iggy’s looks are obviously well documented, as is her relationship with Laker Nick Young and beef with Azealia Banks but her music is worth checking out. She has an interesting story and clearly, a much different perspective than most rappers out today.

The New Classic may have set an impossibly high bar for itself but Iggy’s fans should be excited to hear more stories of the Australian/Welsh emcee!Plus her new hit with Ariana Grande is poised to be a certified SMASH!
