DJ Hyphen & J. Moore – Sunday Night Sound Session 528, 529, 530, 531 [Radio Shows]

Ok, ok, thanks for bearing with us as we dealt with some technical difficulties and the constant distraction that is real life.  We’ve made the switch from SoundCloud (RIP) to Mixcloud for the streams, and we’re now hosting the downloads via Box.  We’ve been hustling these archives since the days of 25 download limits from YouSendIt, so we’ll see how long these two options last.  Then it’ll be on to the next one…

The bottom line is…SNSS archives are back and the music is doper than ever.  As we catch up, the tracks are a little older (a month behind SNSS means the rest of the industry is only about 6 months away from playing some of these artists/tracks), but still great.

Hope you enjoy tuning in, starting with episode #528 featuring Illa J, Jay Rock, PRhyme, Gangrene, Elzhi, Sol, Little Simz, Melat, Omen, J. Cole, Ta-ku, Alina Baraz, Chali 2na, The Internet, and many more.  Plus, J. Moore was joined in studio by P-Lo from the Bay area.

Catching up on our archives, here’s SNSS #529 from the week where Drake dismantled the very existence of Meek Mill.  In addition to our Drizzy block, we ran new cuts from Sol, Travis Scott, Action Bronson, Bad Meets Evil, Jill Scott, Donnie Trumpet, J. Cole, The Bar (Bambu & Prometheus Brown), Junia-T, Disclosure, Sam Smith, and more.  Jarv Dee dropped by the studio to chop it up with J. Moore as well.

These are the shows you hate and you never forget.  We lost an incredible MC a few weeks ago and in tribute to Ruck aka Sean Price, we kicked off SNSS#530 with almost an hour of his classics.  While it felt great to relive all those verses and yell out “P!!!!” accordingly, it’s depressing to know that his newest release (Songs In The Key Of Price, cop it now!) is his last.  43 is way, way, way too young.  We need to ensure that our vets are taking care of themselves as they get older, especially because this lifestyle isn’t really conducive to healthy living.  RIP to a legend, one of the nastiest to ever pick up the mic.  Condolences to our Duck Down fam.

In addition to our tribute to Ruck, we ran some new records from BJ The Chicago Kid, Dr. Dre, Method Man, Anik Khan, Macklemore, Warren G, Drake, Duckwrth, and more.  Local artist Huey P also dropped by to debut his new record, “206 / 253,” with Wale.

Right back atcha with another archived episode of SNSS after yesterday’s flurry.  On episode #531, we ran new tracks from Mac Miller, Wizkid, Anik Khan, Sadistik & Kno, Guilty Simpson, Maffew Ragazino, Dornik, SiR, With You., Lianne La Havas, Tom Misch, Gallant, Bryson Tiller, and more.  Lots of good stuff here, hope you enjoy!
