Hip-hop MC/Producer Zion I has released a hope-and-harmony infused new videofor his single “Saving Souls,” as an ode to his hometown of Oakland – shot in both black-white and color. The video is produced by Mikos DaGawd.

Zion I, with relaxed, smooth-flowing rhymes, name checks Cassius Clay, several ancient deities, including Mohammed, Akhenaton and Hare Ram, and, of course, his native Oakland in the 3-minute-26-second video.
“Bullseye pull my thoughts from creation – motivate the world into a deeper meditation,” Zion I raps, calling for humanity to seek salvation in the every day, since God is in everything. “I get my search in looking thru my window – see the sun is rising – want some blessings.”
The video features urban scenes of the West Oakland Bart and platform, San Francisco’s Chinatown and various parts of the Financial District, which highlights sidewalk card games, tai-chi practitioners in the park and narrow back alleys, all rapped over a loping drum, persistent electronic beats and female vocalized “I’s” that become part of the beat. The video ends with a transit cop benignly ambling away on a train platform.
